Open brief · Live

The problem is defined. The solution is entirely yours.

Open brief challenges give you a real-world problem and complete creative freedom to solve it. There is no fixed prompt. No prescribed approach. Just a brief, a deadline, and a community that will tell you whether what you built actually works.

    What is an open brief

A problem worth solving. A solution only you can build.

An open brief is a challenge where you receive the problem but not the solution. The brief might say: help someone who is afraid their job is being replaced by AI figure out what to do next. What you build is completely up to you. A job vulnerability scanner. A career pivot tool. A daily confidence builder. An upskilling planner. The community votes on which interpretation was most impressive, most useful, and most genuinely helpful. Quality is weighted at 80 percent. Creative thinking wins.

    How judging works

The community decides. Quality beats speed.

Open brief challenges are scored 80 percent on quality and 20 percent on speed. Quality is assessed by moderators and community votes based on whether the app genuinely addresses the brief, whether it would actually help a real person, and whether the execution is solid. The fastest submission rarely wins an open brief. The most thoughtful one does. This is where builders who understand problems, not just tools, rise to the top.

    Pass criteria

What moderators check on every open brief submission.

Every open brief submission is verified against three pass criteria set when the challenge is created. The app must load and function without errors. It must meaningfully address the brief in a way that demonstrates the builder understood the problem. And it must be something a real person facing that problem would actually find useful. Generic AI wrappers that produce a paragraph of text do not pass. Genuine problem-solving tools do.

    The prize

Build something that matters. Win something real.

Open brief challenges reward the builders who think deepest about the problem. World Records on open briefs go to the highest overall score not the fastest time. Prize-enabled open briefs put real money on the line for the submission the community rates highest. Your open brief submissions live permanently on your public profile as evidence of your creative and technical ability.
